Kirti Kumar Mahanta is a first-year Ph.D. student in Remote Sensing and GIS at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, IIT Mandi. His research focuses on modeling mountain permafrost distribution over Indian Himalayan regions, and their relation to climate change. He has completed his Master's in Remote sensing and GIS from Kumaun University, Nainital, and his Bachelor's in Geology from Sambalpur University, Odisha.
Prior to joining IIT Mandi, Kirti worked as a JRF at Punjab Remote Sensing Centre and Project Assistant at Odisha Space Applications Centre, Bhubaneswar.
