Disaster Extreme and Environmental Remote Sensing
Landslide susceptibility mapping, vulnerability and risk mapping
At IIT Mandi, our lab specializes in geospatial analysis for landslide susceptibility, vulnerability, and risk mapping. We leverage remote sensing, GIS, and machine learning to enhance disaster management and infrastructure planning, focusing on mitigating natural hazards in vulnerable regions
Permafrost and debris cover mapping in Indian Himalayas
Our lab at IIT Mandi focuses on mapping permafrost and debris cover in the Indian Himalayas. We employ advanced geospatial techniques, including remote sensing and GIS, to study these critical features, contributing to the understanding of climate change impacts and informing sustainable development in high-altitude regions.
Forest fire susceptibility mapping
Our lab focuses on identifying and analyzing areas prone to forest fires. By integrating remote sensing, GIS, and data-driven approaches, we aim to enhance early warning systems and improve forest management practices to reduce fire risks
Glacial lake outburst and its ecological dynamics
Integrates remote sensing with ecological research to study glacial lake outburst events and their biological impacts. We examine how these events affect local ecosystems, using geospatial analysis to track changes in habitat, species distribution, and ecological balance.
Groundwater quality and health risk assesment
We analyze spatial variation of WQI and health hazard and identify hotspots to bring out the poor quality of the groundwater to the people living in the region
